PROVENCE RETREAT From Nice Airport: When you leave Nice Airport follow the blue signs for the Peage (tollroad) A8, direction Cannes/Aix/Toulon. Once on the A8 AutoRoute, follow the direction to Aix-en-Provence. Your total drive will be 1 hour + 10-30minutes. After 20 minutes, starting looking for the Draguignan exit # 36, as your exit is the one following that one. The exit you want will say A57 Toulon, & Le Luc, Cannet des Maures. This is the exit for A57 to Toulon also, so stay in the far right lane because you will immediately exit again for La Garde Freinet. You do not want to stay on A57 for Toulon! Your exit will be about 45 minutes travel time after you are on auto route. You will need 2.50 euro in change for automatic peage (toll booth) near Cannes; if you don't have the exact change, there are manned booths to the far right. Next and last toll, when you exit is 5.60 euro. Your total journey from the airport to Provence Retreat is about 100 km and should take no more than an hour and a half! After exiting at/on the A57 & Le Luc, Le Cannet d' Maures exit, follow the black and white signs for La Garde Freinet, Grimaud and St.Tropez. As we said, stay in right lane because you are immediately exiting. Beware, don't to be confused and go to Toulon! From Peage toll booth exit, go all way around the roundabouts (to the left) and follow smaller sign to La Garde Freinet. There are 2 roundabouts and La Garde Freinet is the last option both times. From the AutoRoute, it is about 30 minutes to Les Residences des Indigo. As you approach the village after numerous twists and turns… a friend told us there were 79… you will see the village signpost La Garde Freinet / Gardi (Provencal name); follow the main road around sharp right hand bend and ascend hill past small Renault garage- take the next right hand turn after the garage, hand painted sign on wall reads "Chemin des Tuilles". Indigo and your Provence Retreat are about 75 meters down this lane on left, circular development behind electronic gates. NOTE: If you miss the right turn off main road, the next right (straight on) takes you into a tree shaded square, Place de la Marie w/ Hotel de la Ville (town hall) and small car park. Turn around and head back down hill towards Residences des Indigo, now turning immediately left past Le Comptoir gallery. Your turn it much more obvious from this direction. Very Important: Please call property managers, Paul and Wendy Barstow when you leave Nice Airport (i.e. after picking up rental/hire car) so that they can estimate your arrival time in order to greet you with your keys.
