The remains of the Saracen Fort Freinet tower high above La Garde Freinet and overlook the only passage between the Argens valley to the bay of St Tropez.

The village remains unspoiled with authentic French charm and numerous writers and artists have made it their home.

The village has 2 grocers, 2 butchers, 2 bakers, (candlestick maker position still available) post office, bank with cash machine, plus an excellent selection of restaurants, cafes, shops and art galleries.

Many other local Mediterranean beaches and charming villages are nearby including Ste Maxime, Cavalaire, Port Grimaud, Grimaud, Ramatuelle, and Gassin.

For more enjoyment, there are numerous published walking trails offering a variety of terrain and numerous Côte de Provence vignerons who welcome tasters and provide tours of their Chateaux.
